At Whenuapai Air Scouts we are very lucky to have a large fenced property on the corner of Kowhai and Pururi Roads in Whenuapai Village with plenty of room for our scouting activities. As well as large carpark and grass areas for outdoor activities, we have a large scout ‘Den’ (Hall) with beautiful wooden floors and plenty of natural light.
The facilities include the main hall area (approx. 14m x 8.5m) heated/cooled via heat pumps, tables and chairs, kitchen (including oven, fridge/freezer, microwave etc), and two toilets with hand basins.
In addition to the Den, we have a Nissen Hut (a prefabricated steel structure for military use, made from a half-cylindrical skin of corrugated steel) to store all of our scouting equipment.
Using our Den
When our Den is not in use by our scouting sections, we offer the main building to local community groups/clubs/businesses to book on a regular basis. Use of the den is in exchange for a donation – our donation schedule is very reasonable and all donations go directly to the upkeep of our facilities as well as scouting activities.
If you are involved in an organisation looking for a place to hold your regular daytime classes/meetings you might like to consider our hall – currently in use after school and frequently on weekends, however free for week day times (Monday to Friday up to 3pm). If you’re looking for a regular meeting place, please check this BOOKINGS CALENDAR to see if the facilities are free, and then contact us at info@whenuapaiscouts.org.nz.
Grants
As a community group we rely on assistance via grants for larger projects. We would like to extend our thanks to the following organisations for their grant support in 2019/2020.
